Ember is a Demon Pony who can blow Cyan fire

Ember escaped from Tartarus, passing through Erebus on her way out when twilight was dealing with Cerberus in Season 2 Episode 20: "It's About Time".

Tartarus is the lowest region of the world, as far below Equestra as Equestra is from heaven.
Erebus is the area between the Underworld and the Equestra.

She had escaped with her brother, Flare, who lost each-other on the way out:

When she escaped and was looking for refuge, she stopped on a cloud after swiping a drink from somepony's picnic. Moments later Tech Talk flew by and stopped to talk to her and offered her refuge at his place, on the account that she stops stealing things.

Sometimes she helps Strawberry Glimmer cook her tarts anywhere by blowing fire to bake her pastries. A fine way to keep them fresh for picnics.
